Whilst Hong Kong may be a welcoming city, it is not always a safe city for refugees. To shed some light on this issue, founders Polly McGovern and Katherine Sparrow set up We Are Here, an independent multimedia art project to give public support and raise awareness for refugee community in Hong Kong.

The ongoing art project recently held their launch night at the Hive Studios exhibiting some artwork produced by Polly McGivern with paintings, photos and videos. As part of the awareness campaign, there was a fantastic African drumming performance and a guest speaker. We are truly touched by “We Are Here” and will continue to show our support for refugees in Hong Kong.

This week we caught up with the wildly creative Kate March at our studio space in Kennedy Town. As a performing artist, she has captured the attention of people all over town with her immersive theatrical projects. In addition to her creative career, Kate founded I AM, a creative community delivering artistically driven events through immersive live performance.

We chat to  Kate about her latest project titled under|water. In collaboration with long term friend and photographer Elizabeth Cryan, editing by Karim Hapette, under|water will be a 6-10 minute poetic film of choreography and speech. Be prepared for a bold performance with underwater filming and strong imagery for an immersive underwater experience. The film will be filmed over 2 months in different locations across the globe and expected to debut later on this year.

We wish you all the best on your new journey and we can’t wait to see what you will bring back to the Hive.
